What is Hawaiian Fluff and what makes it different than cotton candy?
Cotton Candy. Just saying those words conjure memories dating back to childhood. The tastes, the smell, who we were with, where we were and more. It's those memories that we have created Hawaiian Fluff and we thought what better way to introduce, but to take a few steps back and learn about what Cotton Candy is, where it ca me from, and how its not as bad as its reputation (health-wise, anyway) deserves.
While the concept for Cotton Candy might have originated in Europe, it was William Morrison and John C. Wharton of Nashville who made it become a reality.
In 1897, they created the machine which used air and sugar to popularize the spread of a new product.
They called it fairy floss. It still has that name in Australia. In much of the world, it is called candy floss.
In France, it is called Papa's beard. You have eaten it since you were a child and likely call it cotton candy.
Today it's not only within the reach of everybody's pocket, but, when it comes to carnival fare, you could do worse.
After all, even aserving of cotton candythe size of your head contains less sugar than a can of Coke, and unlike, say, corn dogs, it contains no cholesterol, no sodium, and no fat. Just check out the chart below!
